I believe that this is a more light-hearted headcanon, and doesn't need to be taken extremely seriously, but even so, I don't really agree with it.
Perhaps the nations pick up some traits of those who controlled them for a while, such as a lot of England's colonies sharing his eyebrows, but I don't believe that it happens in the same way this picture states.
At least certainly, they do not pick up traits based on influence in the first place regardless of time; Time does matter. Nations are influenced and held by various other nations, and it would be silly to think that they would be come a strange amalgamation of all those who were involved. A nation's appearance is a sort of average of their people's appearance; the nations are somewhat stereotypes in appearance. So if they are a colony and have the people of their mother country settle their land, naturally they would look similar.
The smaller text paragraph in the picture is not viable evidence for the headcanon they present. I believe that they got the idea from the episode where France, England, and Finland are discussing how America looks like them, but I thought that it was more a joke than anything.
Their appearance can change even when they're older as well, as is evident with Hong Kong.

This is the end of the "What Are They Anyway?" series on nations. The next series will be part two, but as of right now, I am unsure what I will do it on. Please be patient and wait to see.
Very interesting. I still havnt gotten a chance to check out Hetalia for myself due to work, but as soon as I get time I'll be looking into it.
