... ... ...
This image, although it is quite small and I could not find a larger size, presents an interesting headcanon on this.
The first three paragraphs of this picture are worded in such a way that it could be saying a nation's leader becomes immortal. Naturally, that isn't true (thankfully), and furthermore, I don't believe that nations are fully immortal. I will talk about that headcanon in a later post.
The latter two paragraphs are an interesting suggestion, but it's silly to think that a foreign nation would name a young nation a native name; If that were true, a lot of nations would have Roman human names. There's no good reason for a conquering nation to give their territory a popular name in that territory.
... ... ...
Another variant of the headcanon comes from a fanfiction by a close friend of mine, MewShiny. Although her story is not complete as of yet, the basis for her fanfiction, Babble, is very interesting to me.
*Warning: Spoiler Alert*
We find out later in the story that China is the only nation still alive from the batch of originals: those who were originally human. Lastly, Old Britannia made the humans into nations, but we do not know much more than that thus far.
*End Spoiler Alert*
It's quite the interesting story with an interesting headcanon, and I would highly suggest reading it, if you're patient enough to wait for it to be finished, that is.
... ... ...
Naturally, these are only two examples of variants of the headcanon, but I felt like they were interesting enough to be addressed.
